This registration session is for anyone that plans to participate as a team manager, assistant coach, scorekeeper or any other volunteer role that will have access to our players in some capacity. Our volunteer requirements adhere to rules adopted by our national chartering organization, Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken, in 2019, and follow federal legislation passed in Feb 2018 aimed at protecting amateur athletes. The LYBSL believes player safety is paramount and the safeguards in place are critically important to a safe and positive experience for all of our players.

COST
There is no cost to register as a volunteer and no charge to you for required background screening or training modules.
CORI
We are required by the state of Massachusetts to submit, and review, a CORI for all volunteers.
ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING
Babe Ruth League requires all managers, coaches, and volunteers with consistent active engagement with players to register with our National Athletic Safety Program for Abuse Prevention Training.
NATIONAL BACKGROUND CHECK
Babe Ruth League requires all managers, coaches, and volunteers with consistent active engagement with players to register with our National Athletic Safety Program for Background Checks. Babe Ruth League, Inc. chartered leagues are required to conduct a nationwide background check on all managers, coaches, Board of Directors, and any other persons, volunteers, or hired workers, who provide regular service to the league and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players. Once a volunteer has successfully completed the background check, it is valid for a two (2) year period from the date of completion.
